Perth is surrounded by beaches – almost 80 kilometres
within the city limits alone. Ideal for swimming, surfing,
sailing, diving and fishing. The clear waters are also home
to a variety of marine life.
Scarborough
A family destination, Scarborough Beach has a lifesaving
club for safe swimming, parks and reserves for enjoyment
and weekend markets for browsing. Just 12 kilometres north
of Perth, it’s a city favourite.
Fremantle fun
Fremantle is a vibrant port city just 20 kilometres south
of Perth. Traditionally a historic town, it offers an eclectic
mix of art, dining and nightlife - old mingling with new.
A collection of heritage-listed buildings houses modern
attractions, museums, art galleries and shops. Maritime
experiences include a visit to the working Fishing Boat
Harbour and Fremantle Port as well as the Maritime Museum
which houses the reconstructed hull of the Batavia, sunk
off the coast in 1629.
Sunset coast
Known as the Sunset Coast, Perth’s beaches are ideal
to enjoy the gold, pink, and yellow visions that grace the
west coast year-round. Make yourself comfortable and enjoy
a picnic as you wait.
Close to the city
Two of Perth’s favourite beaches are City and Cottesloe
- about eight and 12 kilometres away. City is recognised
for its pristine waters, and Cottesloe’s streets are
lined with Norfolk Pines, some 70 years old.
