A sophisticated, scenic city, there is plenty to do in
Western Australia’s capital. Cool down with Swan River
water sports, enjoy a glass of local wine or explore the
bushland in central Kings Park.
Scenic Swan Valley
Western Australia's oldest wine growing region, the Swan
Valley is now a bustling tourist area. Award-winning wineries,
many family owned, offer alfresco and restaurant meals and
cellar door tastings.
Rottnest Island
Only a short trip from the mainland is lovely Rottnest Island,
home to a special Australian marsupial, the quokka. As bicycles
are the only transport on the island, the quokkas are very
active – much to the delight of visitors. Water-based
activities are very popular. You can enjoy surfing or swimming
in the sheltered bays, or scuba dive and snorkel with abundant
marine life. Accommodation on the island is simple and comfortable
- much of it exhibiting an architectural style dating back
to the 1800s.
Eat out in Perth!
Boasting more restaurants per head of population than any
other Australian city, Perth loves to go out to eat and
meet. Try Cottesloe Beach for casual eats or Subiaco for
a more dressed-up style.
City of arts
Perth’s Art Gallery of Western Australia has a wonderful
collection, or for a more contemporary art view, try the
Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts and the Craftwest Centre
for Contemporary Craft.
