Despite its cosmopolitan status, Sydney has a wealth of
natural attractions including many national parks within
a short distance of the city. It’s a boon for both
residents and international visitors.
Northern parks to visit
North of Sydney are several national parks of scenic beauty
including Ku-ring-gai and also Brisbane Waters. Both span
the awesome Hawkesbury River with its sandstone cliffs and
deep forested valleys.
Royal National Park
Established in 1879, this is the world's second oldest national
park. Only 32 kilometres from Sydney, it has great diversity.
Enjoy great surf beaches, cliff top heath land walks and
rainforest cycle tracks.
Sydney Harbour and bays
Sydney Harbour National Park protects several islands and
foreshore areas around the spectacular harbour. South of
the city, Botany Bay National park straddles two headlands
and a span of history.
Blue Mountains beauty
The Blue Mountains is one of the most spectacular wilderness
parks in Australia. Richly forested hills, gum tree valleys
and craggy outcrops offer superb bushwalking, scenic drives
and adventure.
