Night Clubs and Bars
In the inner city areas of Perth, especially Northbridge
and Subiaco, and Fremantle there are pubs and clubs that
cater for every taste – the very young and trendy
as well as a more mature crowd. Don’t go past the
Zone 5 that’s a classy, yet friendly place at The
Deen, on Aberdeen St, Northbridge, aimed at the mature mingler.
The Geisha Bar is the city’s latest truly late-night
bar on James Street, Northbridge that promises a memorable
night in its Asian inspired surrounding. Still in Northbridge
on Lake Street, call into The Church that offers a bar and
dance floor with great music. The Post Office on Aberdeen
St is renowned for good quality entertainment with live
bands on selected nights. Dance the night away at the Redheads
at 44 Lake Street. Another option for the mature reveller
is the lush Sapphire Bar on Hay Street in Subiaco –
put on something fashionable for a night in luxury. At 222
Hay Street in Subiaco is the Black Tom’s Bar an adult
bar frequented by professionals for after-work, re-dinner
or pre-show drinks. The Red Sea at 83 Rokeby Road in Subiaco
is a new addition to the club scene, where a sophisticated
lounge bar combines a New York feel with oriental style.
Club A on the Esplanade in Scarborough is Perth’s
premier dance club,
host to the best DJ’s in town. Club Bay View on 20
St Quentin Ave in Claremont is offering a mix of commercial
dance and old favourites.
Pubs and Breweries
Calling into the many classy pubs, many brewing their own
beer, is one of the delights of visiting this young and
energetic city. Northbridge is where you should start your
“pub crawl”. For a cooling beer and great pub
atmosphere call into the Brass Monkey on William St, that
also offers great food. The Deen a renowned Northbridge
institution on Aberdeen Street has a unique vibe and is
considered one of the best entertainment complexes in Perth,
housing many zones including a nightclub. The Elephant &
Wheelbarrow is a truly authentic British pub in the heart
of Northbridge, while the Court Hotel is a favourite with
the gay community. The Brooklyn comprises a New York warehouse
theme where you can enjoy the latest sounds; and The Bog
is an Irish late night venue that offers a DJ seven nights
a week. Subiaco has Black Tom’s Bar at 222 Hay St,
and Bridie O’Reilly’s, an Irish pub, known for
live entertainment, great food and 23 beers on tap at 328
Barker Road. If you’re after live jazz go to the Subiaco
Hotel on the corner of Hay and Rokeby roads.
Moving on to Fremantle call into the Sail and Anchor featuring
an excellent pub brewery where you can enjoy a large range
of unique ales and stouts. For a light snack and cold beer
check out The Left Bank at 15 Riverside Rd, then relax at
the Norfolk Hotel, 47 South Terrace. Fish ‘n’
chips and fine draught is available at Clancy’s Fish
Pub at 51 Cantonment Street. Rosie O’Grady’s
on William Street is as Irish as it gets where live music
